SUDANESE ARTISTS CONFEDERATION
MANIFEST
MANIFEST
We, the creators and artists of the Sudanese people, pledged to establish the values and principles of freedom, peace and justice, promote full citizenship for all, and resist racism, slavery, persecution, and all forms of human rights violations. We are aware of the suffering of our people with wars and their scourges, especially the widespread spread of hate speech, the erosion of common conscience, and the challenges beyond the level of error and unbearable that resulted from the April 2023 war.
- We trust in the ability of the arts to express the condition of the Sudanese, and the extent of their effectiveness in healing the collective consciousness from the residues of war propaganda. We reject the restrictions on creators, the use of the arts in war propaganda, and the encroachment on its free institutions by the security and military services, militias, and terrorist groups. We disavow all colleagues who neglected their duty, abdicated the honor of the profession, and engaged with parties to the violent conflict to justify grave violations against the people and the nation.
WE DEMAND
- Full and strict commitment to the values and principles of the glorious December Revolution and hard work to achieve its promise.
- Intensifying artistic production, and launching festivals and campaigns to end wars and establish democracy.
- Protecting collective awareness from the danger of fascist gangs, terrorist groups, and warlords.
- Combating hate speech and calls to break common conscience, and treating the residue of warlord propaganda.
- Extracting art institutions and artists from tyrannical authorities, and returning their ownership to society.
- Sponsoring creative women and artists, cultural houses, artistic institutions and working groups, and mobilizing resources to facilitate the task.
The advertisement resulted from a call for action that was responded to by a group of creative women and artists from various cities and rural areas of Sudan. Their efforts were integrated under the auspices of the Institute of Public Policy - Sudan for establishment consultations, according to which the “Confederation of Sudanese Artists” was established, which is the body responsible for implementing this declaration. Accordingly, amendments to it, additions and deletions are available through the Secretariat of the Confederation, and its tasks end with the launch of the Confederation of Sudanese Artists Conference within a year from the date of its adoption.
